Rayan Ait Nouri’s Late Goal Secures Wolves’ 2-1 Victory Over Everton

Wolverhampton Wanderers climbs off the bottom of the Premier League in manager Julen Lopetegui’s debut match.

Rayan Ait Nouri scored a dramatic winner in stoppage time, leading Wolverhampton Wanderers to a 2-1 victory against Everton on Monday. This marked the first Premier League match for manager Julen Lopetegui, helping Wolves move off the bottom of the table.

Ait Nouri netted from close range at the back post after a swift counterattack, igniting jubilant celebrations among the players and coaching staff, while Frank Lampard’s Everton left the pitch to boos from the home crowd.

With this win, Wolves ascended two places to 18th, amassing 13 points from 16 matches. They are now one spot and one point behind Everton, who are struggling following the six-week break for the World Cup.

Everton initially took the lead just seven minutes into the match, marking their first goal from a corner this season. Dwight McNeil delivered the set-piece, which an unmarked Yerry Mina converted with a header—his first Premier League goal in two years.

However, Wolves equalized midway through the first half through a cleverly executed corner, allowing Joao Moutinho to set up Daniel Podence for a well-placed volley.

Ait Nouri’s late goal came against the flow of play, as Everton pushed for a second goal. Looking ahead, Wolves will host Manchester United while Everton faces Manchester City in their upcoming matches on Saturday.
