Fatal Accident in Barabanki Highlights Dangers of Highway Resting Spots for Laborers

At least 18 people were killed and 24 others injured when a truck collided with a group of laborers who were sleeping under a parked bus on a highway in northern India. The tragic accident occurred overnight in Barabanki, located 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh state. Authorities reported that the bus, which had broken down on its way to Bihar, was parked by the side of the highway when the truck crashed into the sleeping workers. The collision resulted in a devastating toll on the group, who were resting in an unsafe area after their vehicle’s failure.
