Simone Biles and three others from the Tokyo team secure spots on the U.S. gymnastics squad for Paris 2024.
The U.S. Olympic gymnastics trials in Minneapolis have concluded, confirming the teams for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Four athletes from the Tokyo 2020 team are heading back for a shot at redemption: Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey.
Biles, already a gymnastics legend, secured her third Olympic appearance with a dominant performance, winning the all-around with a score of 117.225. Her inclusion adds to her legacy as one of the sport’s greatest, as she looks to build on her already iconic career.
Alongside Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey will represent the U.S. women, making a return to the Olympic stage after competing in Tokyo. Hezly Rivera also made the team, while Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong were named alternates.
The men’s team is also set, with Frederick Richard, Brody Malone, Paul Juda, Asher Hong, Stephen Nedoroscik, and alternates Shane Wiskus and Khoi Young securing their spots. The men’s team has shown strong performances throughout the trials, promising another competitive U.S. gymnastics squad for Paris.
This year’s trials saw three key women’s gymnasts, Shilese Jones, Kayla DiCello, and Skye Blakely, miss out on Olympic spots due to injuries, creating an opportunity for the athletes who made the cut. The U.S. gymnastics team now heads to Paris with a mixture of experienced Olympians and fresh faces, eager to make their mark on the international stage.
