U.S. Gymnastics Trials: The Men’s Olympic Team Has Been Named

Frederick Richard, Brody Malone, Paul Juda, Asher Hong, and Stephen Nedoroscik will represent the U.S. at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The U.S. men’s Olympic gymnastics team has been officially announced following the U.S. Gymnastics Trials in Minneapolis. After a competitive set of trials, five gymnasts were selected to represent the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics: Frederick Richard, Brody Malone, Paul Juda, Asher Hong, and Stephen Nedoroscik. Khoi Young and Shane Wiskus have been named as alternates.

Frederick Richard, the reigning world all-around bronze medalist, secured his place on the team with an outstanding performance. He finished first in the all-around competition and placed in the top three in three events, guaranteeing his spot on the Olympic roster.

Alongside Richard, Paul Juda, Asher Hong, and Stephen Nedoroscik also impressed with their performances, earning their spots on the team. The selection marks a significant step in their careers as they prepare to represent the U.S. on the global stage in Paris.

The men’s team will aim to end the country’s 16-year medal drought in Olympic gymnastics, hoping to secure the first medal for the U.S. men’s team since 2008.

In the midst of the men’s team selection, the women’s competition was also underway, though it was marred by several injuries. Shilese Jones withdrew from the trials following an injury in warmups, while Kayla DiCello was forced to withdraw from the rest of the trials after suffering an Achilles injury.

The gymnastics trials have captivated audiences, with performances airing live on NBC and Peacock throughout the weekend. The selected gymnasts now have the challenging task of preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
