Lena Dunham Responds to Online Body-Shaming: “It’s Easy to Forget About the Cesspool”

After a joyful week of marriage, the Girls star addresses the harsh comments she’s received about her appearance.

Lena Dunham took to Instagram to speak out against the body-shaming comments she’s been receiving online, following her recent marriage to artist Luis Felber. Sharing a photo of herself smiling, Dunham reflected on how her “lovely week” had been overshadowed by the harsh realities of the internet. She acknowledged the importance of boundaries in her relationship with social media, noting how easy it is to get caught up in the support while forgetting the negativity that lurks behind it.

Dunham admitted to briefly checking online, where she encountered “gnarly” comments about her appearance. Although she dismissed much of the criticism as unworthy of a response, her post highlighted the challenges of navigating social media, where the pressure of public opinion often clashes with personal happiness. Despite the negativity, she remains focused on the positive aspects of her life, including her recent marriage and the love she’s found.
