Severe Weather Triggers Disaster Response as Governor Mobilizes State Resources
A powerful tornado tore through central Iowa on Saturday, killing six people and injuring four others as it damaged buildings, felled trees, and brought down power lines. The storm struck Madison County, southwest of Des Moines, around 4:30 p.m., claiming the lives of both children and adults, according to emergency management officials.
In response to the widespread destruction, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for Madison County, enabling the deployment of state resources to aid in recovery and response efforts.
