NATO Estimates Russia’s Casualties at 40,000 in One Month of Conflict in Ukraine

According to a senior NATO military official, Russia has suffered as many as 40,000 casualties in just one month of fighting in Ukraine. This estimate includes soldiers who have been killed, injured, captured, or gone missing since President Vladimir Putin launched the invasion on February 24.

The official, speaking from Brussels, stated that the figure was based on multiple sources, including information from the Ukrainian government, indications from Russia, and data gathered from open-source intelligence. This devastating toll highlights the severity of the ongoing conflict.
