Foreign Minister Calls for Urgent Action as NATO Ministers Discuss Further Support for Kyiv
On Thursday, Ukraine made an urgent appeal to NATO for increased weapon supplies in its fight against Russia, seeking to prevent further atrocities like those reported in the town of Bucha. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stressed the critical need for more support as he called for Germany to ease bureaucratic hurdles to facilitate the delivery of vital military aid.
While NATO has been supplying some anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons, as well as medical supplies, it has refrained from sending troops to Ukraine or imposing a no-fly zone, out of concern for escalating the conflict. Nonetheless, Kuleba’s message was clear: more aid is needed.
“My agenda is very simple. It only has three items on it. It’s weapons, weapons, and weapons,” he told reporters in Brussels as NATO foreign ministers met to discuss further ways to bolster Ukraine’s defense against Russia.
