Massive Solar Plasma Heading Towards Earth by Thursday

Coronal Mass Ejection from Sunspot AR2987 Expected to Impact Earth

A significant solar event is set to impact Earth this week, as a massive coronal mass ejection (CME) travels towards the planet. The CME, which is a burst of plasma and magnetic energy, originated from sunspot AR2987, a dying sunspot known for sending out a C-class solar flare on April 11.

Sunspots, which are cooler areas on the Sun’s surface caused by intense magnetic fields disrupting convection, have been linked to various solar phenomena. This CME’s arrival could cause geomagnetic storms, affecting satellite communications and power grids. Scientists are monitoring the event closely as it nears Earth.
