Johnny Depp’s Lawyers Discuss Possible Deal with Amber Heard to Avoid Damages Payment

Depp’s attorneys reveal ongoing talks about a deal that could spare Heard from paying millions in damages, as discussions continue post-trial.

Johnny Depp’s legal team has proposed a potential deal with Amber Heard that could prevent her from having to pay the $8.35 million in damages the Fairfax court ordered her to pay. In their first TV interviews since the high-profile trial concluded, attorneys Ben Chew and Camille Vasquez addressed the ongoing discussions regarding the verdict and the damages.

During an appearance on Good Morning America, host George Stephanopoulos asked whether Depp would consider waiving the damages if Heard dropped her appeal. Ben Chew emphasized that for Depp, the case was “never about money,” suggesting that the focus was more on clearing his name and restoring his reputation rather than financial compensation.
