Love Island Shifts to Second-Hand Fashion, Partnering with eBay for Sustainable Summer Style

The show ditches fast fashion for pre-loved outfits, marking a new chapter in sustainability as part of its 2022 season.

As the summer season kicks off, Love Island makes a significant change, officially breaking up with fast fashion. This year, the reality dating show has partnered with eBay, its first-ever second-hand clothing sponsor, to dress contestants in pre-loved pieces. This move follows years of criticism for promoting disposable fashion, especially after its partnership with fast-fashion brand I Saw It First.

With the new collaboration, fashion stylist Amy Bannerman, known for dressing celebrities like Dua Lipa and Sophie Turner, will curate the islanders’ outfits, focusing on sustainable and vintage styles. The trend for 2022 includes the Y2K revival and dopamine dressing, ensuring that this year’s fashion choices are both eco-conscious and stylish.
