Teen Hero Saves Pilot After Helicopter Crashes on Washington Orchard

Logan Schneider’s quick thinking and bravery prevent disaster when helicopter falls from the sky

A 19-year-old from Washington state became an unexpected hero last week after rescuing a pilot from certain death when a helicopter crashed onto his tractor. Logan Schneider was working at his brother’s cherry orchard in Turtle Rock, located about 150 miles east of Seattle, when the dramatic incident occurred.

It was a typical morning on 7 July, with Schneider wearing his noise-cancelling headphones while operating the tractor. That is, until a 39-year-old pilot’s helicopter suddenly plunged from the sky, landing directly on him. Through quick action and calm under pressure, Schneider managed to help the pilot and himself escape serious harm, turning what could have been a tragic situation into a story of bravery.
