Eight bodies of migrants who died in a truck trailer are repatriated from Texas to Mexico for burial
A Mexican air force plane arrived near Mexico City on Wednesday, bringing the first eight bodies of the 53 migrants who tragically died in a truck in Texas last month. These were among the 26 Mexicans who perished from heatstroke and dehydration inside a locked trailer, abandoned by smugglers on the outskirts of San Antonio on June 27.
On that day, temperatures soared near 100°F (38°C), contributing to the fatalities. Arturo Rocha, Mexico’s coordinator for North American affairs, confirmed that the bodies would be transported by land to their hometowns for proper burial, offering some closure to grieving families.
