American Airlines to Resume Flights to Cuba After 2019 Suspension

U.S. approval allows American Airlines to reconnect five Cuban destinations with Miami starting November

U.S. officials have approved a request by American Airlines to resume flights to five destinations in Cuba, which were suspended in 2019 when the Trump administration imposed restrictions on air travel between the two countries. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s decision will enable American Airlines to offer daily flights from Miami to Santa Clara, Varadero, Holguin, Camaguey, and Santiago de Cuba.

Starting in early November, American Airlines will operate two daily flights to Santa Clara and one daily flight to each of the other Cuban cities. This move marks a significant step in the normalization of air travel between the U.S. and Cuba after years of limited service.
