Ukrainian First Lady greeted with flowers during visit as she prepares to address Congress
Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska was warmly received at the White House on Tuesday, with President Joe Biden offering a surprise greeting and a bouquet of flowers as she stepped out of her vehicle. The gesture came on the second day of her visit to the U.S., following her arrival at Joint Base Andrews on Monday for a series of high-level meetings with U.S. officials.
Zelenska’s visit included a bilateral meeting with First Lady Jill Biden, marking their second such encounter since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The two first ladies had previously met on Mother’s Day, when Dr. Biden traveled to Kyiv. Zelenska will also deliver an address to members of Congress on Wednesday.
