Former aide Cassidy Hutchinson recounts explosive testimony before the January 6 committee
In a stunning moment of testimony, former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson revealed that President Donald Trump, furious at being denied access to the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, allegedly tried to grab the steering wheel of his SUV and even lunged at a Secret Service agent’s throat.
Hutchinson, who worked as a senior assistant to Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows, did not witness the incident personally but relayed what she had been told by Tony Ornato, the then-deputy White House chief of staff, and Robert Engel, the Secret Service agent in charge. According to Hutchinson, Trump shouted, “I’m the f***ing president. Take me up to the Capitol now.”
