Tuvalu’s Battle for Survival Amid Rising Seas and Climate Change

As climate change threatens the nation’s existence, Tuvalu’s future is uncertain

Saaga Malosa and Ampex Isaac of Tuvalu are more concerned about the survival of their country than debates over the Commonwealth or the relevance of the Games. With a population of just 11,931, Tuvalu is one of the smallest nations in the world, and it faces an existential crisis due to climate change. The tiny nation, made up of nine islands and atolls in the Solomon Sea, is being overwhelmed by rising sea levels and increasingly severe storms. Experts warn that Tuvalu may soon become uninhabitable, or even vanish entirely, highlighting the urgent need for global action on climate change to save its people and their way of life.
