Dogecoin Co-Creator Reinvests in Cryptocurrency After Eight-Year Hiatus

Billy Markus returns to Dogecoin amid market downturn, sparking community interest

Billy Markus, one of the creators of Dogecoin, has invested in the meme-based cryptocurrency for the first time in eight years, despite a significant crash in the broader crypto market. Markus and Jackson Palmer initially developed Dogecoin in 2013 as a playful response to Bitcoin and the rising cryptocurrency sector. Both creators sold their holdings shortly after launching Dogecoin and distanced themselves from its development, with Palmer stepping out of the public eye and Markus remaining engaged with the community.

On Tuesday, Markus shared his return to Dogecoin on Twitter, mentioning his decision to reinvest after years of vowing to avoid crypto. “I bought Dogecoin after eight years… I’ve checked the price 7 times since. I was up 10% and now it’s back to 3%. Anyway, this seems healthy,” he humorously remarked.
