Tragic Farm Tractor Accident in India Claims 26 Lives, Mostly Women and Children

A Wagon Overturns and Falls Into Pond, Resulting in Multiple Drownings

In a heartbreaking incident in northern India, a farm tractor pulling a wagon loaded with people overturned and fell into a pond, leading to the deaths of 26 people, the majority of whom were women and children. The group was returning from a ceremony at a local Hindu temple when the accident occurred on Saturday night in Ghatampur, near Kanpur city, Uttar Pradesh. Police Superintendent Tej Swaroop Singh confirmed that most of the fatalities were due to drowning. At least 10 others sustained injuries and have been hospitalized. The tragedy highlights the dangers posed by such vehicles, particularly in rural areas.
