Standard Time Returns as Daylight Saving Ends Across Most of the U.S.

Prepare to Turn Clocks Back One Hour and Embrace Earlier Sunrises and Darker Evenings

This weekend, a significant shift awaits much of the United States, entirely separate from election events: the end of daylight saving time. At 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, clocks will move back one hour, marking the start of standard time, which will remain in effect until March 12.

With this change, Americans gain an extra hour of sleep and should adjust their clocks before bed on Saturday night. While mornings will be lighter, evenings will darken earlier than before. Notably, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and most of Arizona do not observe daylight saving time and will not experience this transition.
