Celebrating Personal Milestones Beyond Gender Identity
As I sat down to reflect on the past year, I tried to pinpoint my favorite aspects of being transgender. Surprisingly, what stood out had little to do with my gender identity. From speaking at an international conference to selling my art and being kissed on a church tower, these moments defined my year—yet somehow, the achievement of receiving my Gender Recognition Certificate slipped my mind.
Years ago, milestones like my first gender clinic appointment felt monumental. Now, I realize the greatest gift of transitioning has been the freedom to move past thinking about it constantly. Transitioning allowed me to focus on the broader experiences and accomplishments that make up my life.
