Max Verstappen Clinches Victory at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ending Hamilton’s Record Streak

Verstappen Dominates with 15th Win of the Season, While Hamilton’s Winless Streak Ends His Record Run

Max Verstappen capped off his dominant 2022 season by winning the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, finishing 8.7 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. The victory secured Verstappen’s supremacy in Formula 1, taking his tally to 15 wins from 22 races. Leclerc’s strategic one-stop pit strategy earned him second place, with teammate Sergio Perez finishing third after stopping an extra time.

The race marked a historic moment for Lewis Hamilton, whose record of winning in every season of his career came to an end after he retired with three laps remaining, having failed to secure a win all season. The seven-time world champion, who was hopeful after his controversial loss to Verstappen in the previous season, now faces his first winless campaign since his debut in 2007.

In the constructors’ championship, Ferrari’s strong showing left Mercedes trailing behind in third. Lando Norris finished sixth for McLaren, while Daniel Ricciardo placed ninth in his final race with the team. The race also saw Sebastian Vettel finish 10th in his last F1 appearance.
