Market Pressures and Split from Caspar Jopling Prompt Sale
Ellie Goulding has reportedly sold her five-storey Marylebone townhouse for £2.55 million, marking a loss of £625,000 compared to her original purchase price. The sale comes after the 37-year-old singer split from her husband, art dealer Caspar Jopling, in February, though the pair continue to co-parent their four-year-old son, Arthur.
Goulding initially listed the four-bedroom property for £5.95 million in October 2020 before reducing the price to £5.6 million the following year. Despite continued price cuts, the property market’s sluggishness impacted the sale, with a source explaining: “The property market is a killer at the minute and Ellie just wanted to get rid.”
The home spans 2,961 sq.ft and includes features such as dramatic tall windows, a spiral staircase, Gaggenau appliances, and a modern mezzanine floor. Inside, the property offers high ceilings, parquet flooring, a home cinema, a reception room, and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Designed by architects Stiff + Trevillion, the house has been a frequent backdrop for paparazzi images of Goulding as she attended numerous events.
With this sale behind her, Goulding is reportedly planning a musical comeback. She recently teased two upcoming albums, one of which will see her exploring classical music—an exciting departure from her signature electropop sound. “I have a huge passion for classical music,” she shared earlier this month.
The singer’s sale and career plans highlight a period of transition as she moves forward from both personal and professional chapters.
