The Love Island host and Manchester City defender reportedly grew closer following their meeting at the MTV EMAs.
Maya Jama, the popular host of Love Island, has reportedly been in a secret relationship with Manchester City star Ruben Dias for the past month. The pair allegedly crossed paths at the MTV Europe Music Awards in September, just two months after Jama’s public split from rapper Stormzy.
The 30-year-old TV personality and the 27-year-old footballer were seen together for the first time on New Year’s Eve, when they dined with friends at Sa Capella in Ibiza. Sources suggest that their connection grew stronger in early December when Dias, sidelined due to injury, seized the opportunity to spend time with Jama in Spain.
“Things really took off when Ruben had to miss a few matches over the festive period, and he eagerly took the chance to spend time with Maya in Ibiza,” an insider shared. “Spending New Year’s Eve together was a significant moment for their relationship, though it’s still early days.”
The pair are said to have exchanged contact details at the EMAs and have been in touch since. Although it’s not confirmed whether they are officially a couple, their social media activity has raised further speculation. Dias followed Jama on Instagram in November, and she reciprocated soon after.
Jama had previously opened up about her desire to marry the next person she dates, stating she was “feeling fussy” about her future relationship. She emphasised that the next partner would need to complement the life she has built on her own.
Dias, who joined Manchester City in 2020, is no stranger to high-profile relationships. He was involved in a brief romance with Love Island star Arabella Chi, which ended abruptly after a New Year’s Eve trip in 2023.
Meanwhile, Jama had ended her long-term relationship with Stormzy in July 2024 after several attempts to rekindle their romance. Both parties issued a joint statement acknowledging their mutual love but recognising that their paths had diverged.
Jama is set to fly to South Africa soon to host Love Island’s All Stars series, while also taking on a new role as a judge on ITV’s The Masked Singer.
