Two College Students Among the Victims of Itaewon Crowd Disaster

A devastating crowd crush during Halloween celebrations in Seoul, South Korea, claimed the lives of 154 people, including two American college students. The incident occurred late on Saturday night when an estimated 100,000 people packed into the Itaewon nightlife district, causing a deadly surge.

Among the victims was Anna Gieske, a 20-year-old nursing student from the University of Kentucky, who had been studying abroad in South Korea and sharing her experiences on social media. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared a week-long national mourning period, honoring those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
