Western Australia Ends Pandemic Border Closures, Welcoming International and Interstate Visitors
Australia is now completely open to vaccinated travelers, with Western Australia becoming the last state to lift its pandemic border restrictions on Thursday. Covering nearly a third of Australia’s landmass, the state had shut its borders to most travelers in 2020 in a bid to contain COVID-19.
This move comes four months after Sydney began reopening to quarantine-free travel, and over a week after Australia opened its doors to all vaccinated international visitors. Western Australia’s reopening marks the end of a two-year period of restrictive travel measures, making Australia once again accessible to global tourism and interstate movement.
