The UK marks 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign with a weekend of festivities and national pride.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is here, and the UK is gearing up for a long weekend of celebrations. Marking 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II’s historic reign is being honored with a series of events that will unfold from Thursday through Sunday.
Organized by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Buckingham Palace, the festivities include the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Thursday, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday. On Saturday, the Palace will host a Party at the Palace, with a Platinum Jubilee Pageant planned for Sunday.
In addition to official events, over 16,000 street parties have been organized by members of the public across the country, further embracing the joyous occasion and national unity.
