From 50 Cent to Wendy Williams, these famous names have long spoken out about the hip-hop mogul’s controversial behaviour.
The controversy surrounding Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy, continues to intensify as new details emerge about his alleged involvement in sex trafficking, sexual violence, and racketeering. Following his arrest in December, Combs is currently being held in a detention centre in New York, awaiting his trial scheduled for May 5. As he faces multiple serious allegations, the release of a documentary, Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy, on January 14 is set to shed further light on the troubling accusations against him. Featuring interviews with Combs’ former associates, the film offers a closer look at his manipulative behaviour, control over the celebrity world, and numerous claims of sexual abuse.
However, this documentary is not the first time Combs’ actions have been publicly scrutinised. Over the years, several high-profile individuals have stepped forward to call attention to his alleged misconduct. Among them is hip-hop artist 50 Cent, who has had a longstanding feud with Combs. The rivalry between the two began in 2006 when 50 Cent accused Combs of being linked to the murders of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G., and escalated in recent years as legal actions piled up against Combs. Jackson, who has openly criticised Combs on social media, went further by producing a documentary about the mogul with Netflix. He recently admitted that the project has proven challenging due to the constant stream of new accusations against Combs.
R&B singer Jaguar Wright has also been vocal in her criticisms, describing Combs as one of the “most dangerous people” she has encountered. In a 2023 interview, she recalled being warned by Patti LaBelle to avoid Combs. Wright has also raised similar allegations about Jay-Z, another industry mogul, which led to a public apology from Piers Morgan after lawyers denied the claims.
Mark Curry, once a protégé of Combs, has also come forward to recount his negative experiences. Curry, who featured on Combs’ hit Bad Boys for Life, shared his frustrations over unfulfilled promises and mistreatment by Combs. He detailed disturbing encounters at Combs’ infamous parties, including claims of drugs being used to manipulate female guests.
Aubrey O’Day, a former member of Danity Kane, has also revealed her own unsettling experiences with Combs. O’Day, who was kicked out of the group in 2008, shared stories of fear and intimidation during her time working with him. She claimed that she was forced to comply with Combs’ inappropriate demands outside of her musical career, further illustrating the toxic environment created by the mogul.
In January 2024, comedian Katt Williams warned listeners to avoid attending any of Combs’ parties, further confirming the reputation Combs has built over the years for dangerous and manipulative behaviour. Similarly, talk show host Wendy Williams, who has had her own contentious history with Combs, has long been outspoken about his character. In her 2004 biography, Williams accused Combs of having her fired from her radio position after she speculated about his personal life. On her talk show in 2015, she suggested that Combs might be a controlling partner, a claim that now seems eerily prescient given recent developments, including the lawsuit filed by Cassie Ventura against him in late 2023, alleging a decade of abuse and sex trafficking.
Williams, who has long been critical of Combs, later remarked that the troubling footage of Ventura being assaulted confirmed her worst suspicions about Combs. Reflecting on the unfolding scandal, she commented that many had told her she had “called it” years ago, but she expressed horror at the scale of the allegations now being brought to light.
