Dateline: Missing in America Podcast Investigates Kent Jacobs’ 2002 Disappearance

The Case of Kent Jacobs’ Vanishing in Hope Mills, North Carolina, Unfolds in New Podcast Episode

The mystery of Kent Jacobs’ disappearance in March 2002 is the subject of the latest episode of the Dateline: Missing in America podcast. The case, which has remained unsolved for over two decades, is revisited in a new season that delves into the details of his sudden vanishing from Hope Mills, North Carolina.

Kent Jacobs, a 26-year-old man, was last seen on a typical Sunday morning in March 2002. He had a routine that he followed every week—while his mother went to church, Kent would take a walk in the neighborhood. On this particular day, he was wearing his usual weekend attire: a black Harley Davidson sweatshirt and sneakers.

Kent’s walk would often take him down McDonald Road, where he was a familiar face to locals due to his dark hair and friendly demeanor. His usual path was a well-worn route, turning right onto McDonald Road, making a left at Peach Farm Road, and continuing on for a few miles. This was a routine he followed without fail, and people knew exactly where he was headed.

According to his brother, Keith Jacobs, Kent’s destination was the neighborhood where he grew up, where he would often spend time with childhood friends. It was a place close to Kent’s heart, and the walk was part of his regular weekend activities.

However, on this particular Sunday, Kent never made it to his destination. He disappeared without a trace, and despite efforts from family and authorities, no clues have emerged about what happened to him.

The Dateline: Missing in America podcast revisits Kent Jacobs’ case in its second season, providing new insights into the mysterious disappearance. Hosted by Josh Mankiewicz, the episode uncovers the details of Kent’s life, his routine, and the ongoing search for answers.

The episode, titled Missing: Kent Jacobs, is available for listeners to hear the full story and follow the investigation as it continues to unfold, over 20 years after Kent’s mysterious disappearance.
