The new ad focuses on DeSantis’ biography, showcasing his work ethic and personal background ahead of the GOP primary debates.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ super PAC, Never Back Down, has released a new ad highlighting his life as a young adult, emphasizing his work ethic and military service. The ad, which will air in key primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire, offers a glimpse into DeSantis’ life before his political career, featuring his time as a college electrician’s assistant, his involvement with the Yale baseball team, and his service in the Navy post-9/11.
The ad marks the eighth TV commercial by Never Back Down, but it is the first to focus specifically on DeSantis’ early life. Known as a “bio ad,” this type of commercial typically introduces candidates to voters before they dive into policy discussions or legislative proposals. The ad aims to portray DeSantis’ background and values, moving away from the previous focus on his political rhetoric and clashes with companies like Disney and Bud Light over issues like “wokeness.”
Never Back Down has invested heavily in supporting DeSantis, spending $15.8 million on ads so far this year. The new ad is backed by a seven-figure budget and is part of a broader advertising campaign to improve DeSantis’ standing in the polls. Despite these efforts, DeSantis continues to struggle in the race, trailing behind former President Donald Trump in most polls.
The super PAC has also reserved nearly $1.4 million in future ad spending, though the exact timing of those ads remains flexible. As the GOP primary season heats up, DeSantis’ campaign is hoping to gain traction through strategic messaging and increased visibility in key battleground states.
