Donald Trump targeted in a second “assassination attempt”

Unharmed after an alleged shooter was spotted at his golf course, the former president said “nothing will slow me down”.

A year ago, Ryan Routh was trying to organize transport and travel documents for Afghan soldiers who wanted to fight on the front line for Ukraine against Russia. Now, he is accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, marking the second apparent attempt on Trump’s life within as many months.

On Sunday, 15 September, at around 1:30 pm, Trump was heading to the sixth hole at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. His Secret Service detail, positioned one or two holes ahead, noticed the barrel of a gun sticking out from a fence. They immediately responded by opening fire on the shooter, who fled the scene in a black Nissan. The suspect left behind an AK-47-style weapon with a scope, two rucksacks, and a GoPro, according to local law enforcement.

The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident, approximately 38 miles away from the golf course. Authorities identified him as Ryan Routh, who is now facing serious charges related to the assassination attempt.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of the former president, who remains a polarizing figure in American politics. While Trump was unharmed during the event, he wasted no time in making a statement, asserting that nothing would slow him down.

The motive behind the assassination attempt remains unclear, but the suspect’s past involvement with Afghan soldiers raises questions about his potential political affiliations and motivations.

Despite this alarming attack, Trump’s campaign has vowed to continue moving forward, with the former president making it clear that his determination to run in the upcoming election will not be deterred by threats to his life.

This incident is the latest in a series of threats against the former president, with his public profile making him a frequent target of extreme political violence. Trump’s response to the attack has been unwavering, as he maintains his stance on fighting for the issues he believes in.
