Duchess of Cornwall Encourages Adoption at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s 160th Anniversary

Camilla promotes animal welfare while highlighting the rising number of abandoned pets

The Duchess of Cornwall has called on the public to visit Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and “find a friend for life” as she celebrated the charity’s 160th anniversary. Camilla, accompanied by celebrity ambassadors including Paul O’Grady, Amanda Holden, and author Jacqueline Wilson, hosted an event at Clarence House, bringing attention to the charity’s important work in animal welfare.

With many pets being abandoned as owners return to work post-pandemic, the charity is facing increased demand at its centers. The rising cost of living is also expected to contribute to more animals being surrendered. Camilla’s call for adoption aims to encourage individuals to consider giving a home to a pet in need, underscoring the importance of supporting animal welfare organizations during challenging times.
