Jan. 6 Rioter Who Wanted Pelosi Brought Out to Mob Is Sentenced to 2 Years

Pauline Bauer, involved in the Capitol riot, was sentenced for her actions, including demanding House Speaker Nancy Pelosi be brought to the mob.

Pauline Bauer, a 55-year-old Pennsylvania woman, was sentenced to 27 months in prison for her role in the January 6 Capitol riot. Bauer was recorded near House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the attack, shouting, “Bring her out here” and “We’re coming in if you don’t bring her out here.” These statements were made while she was part of the mob that stormed the Capitol, attempting to disrupt the certification of President Joe Biden’s election victory.

Bauer was convicted on multiple charges, including obstruction of an official proceeding, entering and remaining in a restricted building, and disorderly conduct within a restricted building. She was convicted at a bench trial, meaning her case was decided by a judge rather than a jury. Her conviction stems from her actions during the riot, which disrupted the legislative process and led to violence.

During the riot, Bauer was seen in videos fighting with law enforcement officers and engaging with the mob to gain access to areas of the Capitol. Prosecutors said her actions were part of a larger effort by supporters of then-President Donald Trump to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C. stated that Bauer’s involvement in the events of January 6 was significant and warranted the sentence. “Her actions disrupted the proceedings of Congress and posed a danger to our democracy,” the office said in a statement after the sentencing.

Bauer was one of many individuals who participated in the attack on the Capitol, a violent and unlawful attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Hundreds of people have been arrested and sentenced for their roles in the riot, and Bauer’s case further highlights the legal consequences faced by participants in the insurrection.

Bauer’s defense attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the sentencing. However, the case serves as a reminder of the ongoing legal consequences for individuals involved in the January 6 events and the continuing efforts to hold participants accountable for their actions.
