On Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Selma, Alabama, to honor the 57th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” a pivotal event in the U.S. civil rights movement. Vice President Harris, the first female and the first Black and South Asian vice president, will address the crowd gathered at the historic bridge, now regarded as a symbol of the ongoing struggle for minority voting rights. Her visit coincides with stalled congressional efforts to revive parts of the Voting Rights Act, which face significant opposition.
