Jury Awards Damages for Unauthorized Photos of Kobe Bryant Crash Scene
A jury has ruled that Los Angeles County must pay $16 million to Vanessa Bryant, widow of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, over unauthorized photos taken by police and fire officials at the scene of the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others on January 26, 2020. Christopher Chester, who lost his wife and daughter in the crash, was awarded $15 million in the same case. The helicopter had been en route to a basketball tournament from Orange County when it crashed.
