Space Rock Passes at a Distance 16 Times Greater than Moon’s Orbit
NASA has identified an asteroid, known as 2022 PC, that will make a relatively close pass by Earth on Thursday. Estimated to be slightly larger than the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the asteroid will come within 6.3 million kilometers of Earth, as reported by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Asteroid Watch dashboard. For context, this distance is approximately 16 times that between Earth and the Moon, which averages about 384,633 kilometers.
