The delay is particularly significant as it impacts a key U.S. House race. Bynum’s call comes as pressure mounts on the county’s Elections Clerk, Sherry Hall, who has overseen the county’s elections for nearly two decades. Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan has requested a written plan from Hall to ensure the results are counted by June 13, the state’s deadline for certifying election results. Bynum described the situation as “unreasonable and untenable,” criticizing Hall, who is also facing reelection in November.
