May 8 Added as National Holiday to Mark the Historic Coronation at Westminster Abbey

Scots will enjoy an extended long weekend to celebrate the King’s coronation, with an additional bank holiday set for May 8, following the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on May 6. The special holiday will be observed across the UK, giving people an opportunity to join in the celebrations.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon expressed that the coronation will be a historic event for Scotland, and the Scottish Government aims to ensure that as many people as possible can participate in the festivities surrounding the occasion.
