Second Earthquake Strikes Michoacán, Mexico, Following Deadly 7.6 Tremor

Magnitude 5.8 Aftershock Adds to Fears Following Deadly Quake Anniversary in Mexico

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook Mexico’s Michoacán region on Tuesday, coming just a day after a 7.6 magnitude tremor claimed two lives and damaged buildings. The powerful Monday quake tragically marked the anniversary of catastrophic quakes from 1985 and 2017, which resulted in extensive fatalities and destruction. One person was crushed by a building facade in Manzanillo, while another victim was discovered at a local mall. A tsunami warning, initially issued post-quake, was later downgraded, with authorities noting minor sea level fluctuations expected for a few more hours.
