Snowstorm Causes Major Pileup on Czech Highway, At Least Six Injured

Around 40 Vehicles Involved in Crash as D5 Highway Near Prague Remains Closed

A severe snowstorm that struck the Czech Republic on Thursday led to a major traffic accident involving around 40 cars and trucks, completely shutting down the D5 highway, a key route linking Prague to Germany. The crash occurred approximately 33 kilometers (20 miles) southwest of the capital.

Authorities confirmed that the pileup, which resulted in at least six injuries, forced a complete closure of the highway. Two of the injured were airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Prague for further treatment. The highway is expected to remain closed for several hours as emergency crews work to clear the wreckage and ensure safety.
