SNP Leader Criticizes Conservative Leadership Candidates After First Debate

Ian Blackford claims Scotland loses regardless of who becomes Prime Minister amid cost-of-living concerns

Following the first television debate of the Conservative leadership election on Friday, the SNP’s Westminster leader Ian Blackford stated that Scotland would lose “no matter who ends up Prime Minister.” Blackford criticized the debate, arguing that none of the five candidates – Kemi Badenoch, Penny Mordaunt, Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, and Tom Tugendhat – offered the “radical thinking” needed to address the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

The candidates participated in Channel 4’s leadership hustings, where their positions were scrutinized by the public ahead of the upcoming election to succeed Boris Johnson.
