South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is receiving treatment for mild COVID-19 symptoms after testing positive for the virus on Sunday. A statement from his office confirmed that Ramaphosa began feeling unwell, and a subsequent test confirmed the diagnosis.
The president is currently self-isolating in Cape Town, where he is being monitored by the South African Military Health Service. As a precaution, Ramaphosa has delegated all presidential responsibilities to Deputy President David Mabuza for the duration of the next week.
