Makazole Mapimpi and Lukhanyo Am’s Tries Propel South Africa to 27-9 Victory in Cape Town
South Africa’s Springboks leveled their series against the British & Irish Lions with a 27-9 victory in the second Test at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday. After trailing 9-6 at halftime, the Springboks bounced back with an explosive second-half performance. Makazole Mapimpi and Lukhanyo Am each scored tries, while Handre Pollard contributed five penalties and a conversion for a total of 17 points.
The Lions, who had won the first Test 22-17, were held to just three penalties, all from Dan Biggar. The match was tense and combative, with the Springboks taking control after the break, shifting the momentum in their favor.
Robbie Henshaw of the Lions reflected on the match, noting the tough battle and expressing optimism for the decider next Saturday. “It is all to play for next week. It is finals rugby, and at the top level, everyone is going to be up for it, so it is going to be an exciting week,” he said.
