Family Seeks Shelter Before Storm, Captured Smiling Moments Before Tragedy Strikes
A heartbreaking photo has emerged showing a young girl and her sisters sheltering in a bathtub moments before a deadly tornado hit their home in southeast Missouri. Trey and Meghan Rackley, along with their three daughters, took refuge in a windowless bathroom on Friday evening as severe storms swept across the central US.
In a final effort to reassure their family, the girls’ mother, Meghan, sent a photo to her Aunt Sandy, showing the girls smiling in the bathroom. Nine-year-old Annistyn can be seen holding her favorite doll. Tragically, Annistyn was killed when the tornado struck shortly after the photo was taken, tearing apart their home.
