Trump Calls Liz Cheney’s Primary Race a “Big Deal” in Wake of January 6 Investigation

Former President Declares Contest a Referendum on Capitol Riots and Cheney’s Role

On Tuesday, Donald Trump joined the chorus of political analysts in highlighting the significance of Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney’s Republican primary race against Harriet Hageman. Trump labeled the contest a “referendum” on Cheney’s actions as vice-chair of the January 6 select committee, which has investigated the Capitol riots. Writing on Truth Social, Trump warned that if Cheney were to lose, the media would downplay the defeat, but insisted it would be a major event. “It would be a very big deal, one of the biggest!” Trump stated.
