UK to Celebrate Queen’s Historic 70th Year with a Four-Day Jubilee Weekend

A nationwide celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, with thousands of events planned across the UK to honor her seven decades of service.

The UK is set to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th year on the throne with a special four-day bank holiday weekend in June. Her Majesty made history as the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee on 6 February 2022, and this milestone will be commemorated with a series of events and activities across the country.

From public gatherings to community events, the long weekend will feature national moments of reflection, honoring the Queen’s seven decades of dedicated service. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) has announced that more than 70,000 “Big Jubilee Lunches” will take place, with an expected 10 million people coming together to celebrate with their neighbors.

Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries emphasized that the UK would celebrate the occasion with “tradition, pomp, and circumstance,” ensuring that this monumental anniversary is marked by a fitting tribute to the Queen’s remarkable reign.
