Blast Near Major Railway Line Disrupts Train Services, Injuring Multiple People
A World War II-era bomb unexpectedly exploded at a construction site near a busy railway line in Munich on Wednesday, leaving three people injured, including one in serious condition, according to German police.
The blast produced a column of smoke visible from Donnersbergerbruecke station, situated on the route leading to Munich’s central train station, just over a kilometer to the east. Train services to and from Munich’s central station, one of Germany’s busiest rail hubs, were halted following the incident.
Though over 76 years have passed since the end of World War II, unexploded bombs are still frequently discovered in Germany, particularly at construction sites, posing ongoing risks during urban development.
