New Releases Include Biographical War Drama and Thrilling Anime Adaptations
This August, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video will feature an exciting lineup of Asian entertainment, including a war biopic set during the 1999 Kargil conflict and a K-Drama centered on an illegitimate heir battling insomnia and paranoia. Both streaming giants are responding to high demand in Asian markets like India, South Korea, and Japan, with increased interest in period dramas, Bollywood hits, anime, and manga-inspired series.
Among the anticipated releases, Netflix’s K-Drama “Love” has soared to new heights, now ranking as the 12th highest-rated cable drama in South Korean television history. The series, set to air new episodes on 1 August, follows three women whose seemingly perfect lives begin to unravel amid complex relationship twists.
Anime fans can also look forward to “Darwin’s Game,” arriving on Netflix on 1 August. This anime thriller involves a high school student drawn into a deadly online game where players wield superhuman abilities, known as sigils, to survive. “Shaman King,” another popular anime, will release new episodes on 9 August, tracing the journey of Yoh Asakura as he battles to become the Shaman King.
Over on Amazon Prime, Bollywood’s “Shershaah,” releasing on 12 August, recounts the story of Indian war hero Captain Vikram Batra, who earned the Param Vir Chakra for his valor in the Kargil conflict.
