Chelsea Secures Narrow Victory Over Crystal Palace, Relieving Pressure on Manager

Kai Havertz’s Second-Half Goal Leads to Much-Needed Win in Premier League

In a much-needed boost for manager Graham Potter, Chelsea triumphed over Crystal Palace with a 1-0 victory in the Premier League on Sunday, thanks to a second-half goal from Kai Havertz. The German striker scored in the 65th minute, nodding in a cross from Hakim Ziyech after a short corner, marking only Chelsea’s second league win in their last ten matches.

Despite the win, Chelsea remains in 10th place as they reach the halfway point of the season. The home side dominated much of the match, yet Crystal Palace kept goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga busy, with attempts from players like Tyrick Mitchell, Michael Olise, and Wilfried Zaha. Kepa made a spectacular save from Cheick Doucoure late in the second half, maintaining the clean sheet.

Additionally, Chelsea announced the signing of Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk as their fifth acquisition of the January transfer window. The 22-year-old greeted fans from the pitch at halftime, proudly displaying a Ukrainian flag draped around his shoulders.
