Crystal Palace Secures Vital Victory Against Bournemouth to Close 2022

Eagles Score Twice from Set Pieces to Earn Three Points in Challenging Conditions.

Crystal Palace secured a vital three points in their final match of 2022 with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth. The win came as a much-needed boost for the Eagles, who had not managed a single shot on target in their previous Boxing Day defeat to Fulham.

Both of Palace’s goals were scored in the first half, originating from set pieces. Jordan Ayew opened the scoring by heading in a corner delivered by Michael Olise. Olise was also instrumental in the second goal, setting up Eberechi Eze to double the lead.

Prior to the match, new Bournemouth owners Bill Foley and actor Michael B. Jordan were introduced on the pitch, bringing a touch of Hollywood to the occasion. However, this star power did little to uplift Gary O’Neil’s struggling side.

As the match commenced under heavy rainfall, both teams paid tribute to the late Pelé with a minute’s applause, honoring the soccer legend before the action began.
